Introducing the Food Stories Blog

We created the Food Stories Blog as a way to give the public exclusive insights into the production process of Word for Word's upcoming January show, while also creating a forum in which to share our passion for food and to explore stories from our foodie community. 
From January 14 through February 5 Word for Word will present a theatrical production of “Sorry Fugu” by T.C. Boyle – a witty, wicked look at restaurants and critics, and “Enough” by Alice McDermott – a story about a woman’s passion for food and life. Reading these stories lead to many discussions about food and its place in our lives and our culture. As a result, we were inspired to create this blog.


The Food Stories Blog is a place for us to share our excitement for food, exchange stories, and create conversations with our community. We hope to refresh your day and stimulate your appetite week by week with interesting food facts, interviews with local foodies, personal stories, favorite recipes, and more.

Our personal stories about food, the ways we prepare it, serve it, and eat it, and what moves us to eat what we eat can provide insights into our shared community and our individual cultures. All the Information we collect and share is meant to activate our audience and everyone is encouraged to get involved.  
    We will bring you personal stories, interviews with professionals from the food world, current events, and frequent incredible food facts. We will feature works of classic and contemporary art and literature that use food as a source of inspiration, as their subject matter, and sometimes even as their medium. In addition, we will provide exclusive insights into Word for Word’s production process.

    If a piece of cake can make you laugh, a pear can inspire you to dance or a broken cookie can make you cry, then share your stories and join us on this crazy foodie ride that will lead us to an extraordinary Word for Word show in January 2012, where all the flavors will come together.
