Oxley Refuge & Tonic - The official cocktail of SF Cocktail week 2011 |
We can’t write a blog about food without also including some posts about drinks. Today marks the beginning of the 5th annual San Francisco Cocktail Week, featuring a series of tastings, dinning events, and seminars throughout the city. Cocktail Week is presented by the Barbary Coast Conservancy of the American Cocktail, “a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of saloons and their cocktails in San Francisco.” Several local bars and restaurants will be participating. For those who want to learn while they drink, be sure to check out the seminars; topics include “The Nerdy Aspects of Gin Cocktails,” “Not So Simple: the Art of Crafting Perfect Simple Syrups, “ and “Bartending by the Bay: an Historical Tale through San Francisco’s Saloon and Cocktail History with John Burton.” For a complete list of events and participating venues, or to purchase tickets, visit sfcocktailweek.com
